Wharton Esherick Museum

Truly a hidden treasure in Greater Philadelphia, the Wharton Esherick Museum is actually the home and studio of master woodworker and native Philadelphian, Wharton Esherick. The studio was built and expanded over a period of 40 years. Today, the National Historic Landmark, featuring a massive spiral oak staircase, houses more than 300 of the artist’s works, including furniture, sculptures, and other furnishings. Esherick’s whimsical spirit and passion are represented in every inch of this imaginative studio and residence. The small museum’s gift shop is also a treasure trove of unique souvenirs, like reproductions of Esherick’s woodcuts and prints struck from his original woodblocks.
