Although Philadelphia is known for its role in American Revolution history, the city’s local history encompasses much more. The renovated museum has offered insight into Philadelphia’s history for almost 75 years, showcasing some 100,000 paintings, documents, prints, photographs and other items that tell the stories of Philadelphians. In the Main Gallery, discover the world’s largest walkable map of Philadelphia and in the permanent Face to Facebook exhibit, explore how Philadelphians have constructed their identity and presented themselves to others through mediums that range from daguerreotypes to social media profile pictures.
