Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island

"The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933. Enjoy an up close view of this icon from the manicured grounds of Liberty Island.

Important notice: Your Sightseeing Pass is valid for a grounds only ticket aboard the Statue Cruises ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. It is a grounds only ticket. Tickets to enter the statue itself at the museum level, pedestal level or the crown level are very limited, and are only available for purchase in advance from Statue Cruises, the official ferry service provider.

Next, continue your journey to Ellis Island to visit the world-class Ellis Island Immigration Museum, The American Immigrant Wall of Honor, and the America Family Immigration History Center. It has been estimated that nearly half of all Americans today can trace their family history to at least one person who passed through the Port of New York at Ellis Island. Now, nearly a century since the peak years of immigration, Ellis Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the National Park Service.
