Housed in a historical building on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center and NYC Park, the Staten Island Children’s Museum has eleven hands-on exhibits that encourage children to explore, play and imagine.
The exhibits include Portia’s Playhouse where visitors can produce theatrical productions on our fully rigged stage with audio/visual station, costumes, and puppets, Great Explorations where visitors learn about different climates and geography, the Garden Terrace where natural phenomena such as evaporation and gravity are examined, Bugs & Other Arthropods where insects can be examines up close and their importance to our environment is explained.
Daily and weekly interactive programming includes painting, clay art, story time, science time, and cooking classes as well as frequent special performances.
Arriving on the famous Staten Island ferry, looking back at the Lower Manhattan skyline builds the sense of excitement. This amazing Museum is then a short bus ride from the terminal.
